I have spent my entire life visiting the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I have camped, stayed in condos, houses, cabins and many many hotels for the last 38 years. It is one of my favorite places in the world. The mountains, waterfalls and trails allow you to truly relax and enjoy nature. With that said, you need a nice place to lay your head at night. The list below are the best hotels in the White Mountains of New Hampshire (in my opinion). I have stayed in each of them and loved them. Best Towns to stay while in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
- North Conway, NH: Adorable town with lots of dining, things to do and beautiful natural surroundings. This is a much larger and built up town so there will be more dining options. There are plenty of shopping options from small boutiques to an outlet mall. It has access to mountains, rivers, waterfalls and trails! Nearby towns include Bartlett, Glenn, and Intervale.
- Jackson, NH: Quaint, small and adorable mountain town with several resorts and rental properties. Close to North Conway. Have great pumpkin person displays in the Fall.
- Lincoln, NH and North Woodstock, NH: Smaller than North Conway but still in a majestic location with dining, a winery and a few breweries. Near Franconia Notch and the Kancamungus Highway
- Madison, NH: In particular, Edelweiss Village which is located on Pea Porridge Ponds. (Beautiful lake front houses.) This is a rural town with limited dining options. A bit far from North Conway which has the better restaurants.
- Littleton, NH: Charming main street, beautiful walks along the river, several restaurants and an excellent brewery. Closer to Lincoln, NH. About an hour long ride to North Conway.

North Conway Mountain Inn
North Conway, NH- Comfortable, clean, cheap, beautiful mountain views from balconies and dog friendly. This place surprised me with how amazing the views are from the balconies. Honestly, this is a great little find. I highly recommend it!
Eagle Mountain House & Golf Club
Jackson, NH- This is a beautiful property. It is located just outside of the charming Jackson village and just a short walk from Jackson Falls. The rooms are classically beautiful, clean and dog friendly! The service is lovely. There is a golf course and outdoor pool. The food in the restaurant is pretty great. The views from the wrap around porch really add to the dinners! It is only 20 minutes away from downtown North Conway. My family liked this place so much that my brother got married here!
Cabernet Inn
North Conway, NH (One of my favs) This is a classic B&B. It is cozy, romantic and sweet. It is so close to everything in North Conway. It comes with an excellent breakfast and fireplaces in each room but no TVs.
AMC Highland Center
Bretton Woods, NH (I LOVE THIS PLACE.) It is a clean, LL Bean furnished, comfortable mountain lodge with a beautiful playground and stunning views. Secluded and near so many trails. Very close to Crawford Notch State Park. Your rental includes access to their hiking gear so you don’t need to worry about bringing any. Make sure to book up their food packages. The breakfast buffet is delicious and family style dinners fantastic. The view from the outdoor eating area will make your morning coffee special. About 30 minutes to North Conway. This is 100% kid friendly as I used to bring students here. Please note some rooms have communal bathrooms.
Inn at Ellis River
Jackson, NH- Inn at Ellis River is a cozy and classic B&B. The rooms, again, are cozy, clean, comfortable and attractive. I loved the location being in quaint Jackson and right on a river. It was the ideal base for exploring the area. Wonderful service and excellent breakfast as well!
The Snowflake Inn
Jackson NH- This place is very welcoming with cozy suites and a continental breakfast. All suites come with a 2 person jacuzzi which is a bit cheesy but surprisingly a lot of fun to use. Definitely more of an adult vibe.
Cranmore Inn and Suites
North Conway, NH- EXCELLENT location. I mean truly excellent. It is walking distance to the main street of North Conway. This is perfect for grabbing dinner or getting a coffee from the Met. The rooms are comfortable and cozy. The breakfast is excellent. There is even an outdoor pool to rest by. This Inn is very welcoming of all people and are sponsors of White Mountain Pride.
Large Chain Hotels in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
Residence Inn
I mean it’s a Residence Inn. You know you are getting a clean and comfortable room. This is right on the main drag of North Conway. So location is pretty great. Plus it is dog friendly! All in all a decent place to stay.
Hampton Inn & Suites
This is literally across the street from the Residence Inn. Again, it is a Hampton Inn so the rooms will be basic but clean. This Hampton Inn has a small water park right inside of it. So definitely a winner for families!
