The addition of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land quickly solidified my love for this park. Between the nostalgia and old Hollywood type music, this park has my heart. It also helps that there are some amazing thrill rides and my favorite Disney snack (Ronto Wraps!). You will love this park as much as I do.
Warning: This park is always busy due to Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. You will need to carefully plan this day or it might end up sucking. Use this list of my very favorite rides to help your planning. As always, my favorite rides are not based on a fancy rating system rather I like the ride and am I willing to put in the effort to ride it. (Wait in line or use Genie)
At Pragmatic Travelers, we only recommend what we have ridden and enjoyed so you know our recommendations are based in honesty and experience.
I grabbed all the information on the rides like accessibility and height requirement from Walt Disney World. In particular, the Hollywood Studios page.

Best Rides in Hollywood Studios for 2024
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Height Requirement: Any age, height
- Type of Ride: Slow ride
- Accessibility: Must transfer from Wheelchair/ECV, Audio Description, Handheld Captioning
Not gonna lie, I loved the Great Movie Ride but was happily surprised with Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It’s just so damn cute!! I love the technology throughout the ride, in particular, the trackless ride system. It is a cute, happy ride with a great song. The whole family will enjoy this! It has quickly become one of my must rides when I visit Hollywood Studios.
Disney Pro Tip: I love this ride but the line to get on is brutal. All outside with very little relief from the sun. This is a great ride to book ahead using Disney Genie+ or riding early in the morning or late at night.
Slinky Dog Dash
- Height Requirement: 38″
- Type of Ride: Thrill Ride
- Accessibility: ECV must transfer to Wheelchair, then to ride vehicle, Service Animals are not allowed
Yes, this is a great ride! I love being shrunken down to toy size to ride the coaster that Andy built. It is much quicker than it looks. It is a joy to ride! The big ending is adorable and fun. Highly recommend for all ages.
Disney Pro Tip: Book the individual lighting lane for this at 7am. It goes fast. If you don’t get one, rope drop this ride and be prepared to wait. I don’t recommend waiting midday for this as it is all outside.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Height Requirement: 40″
- Type of Ride: Dark, loud, small drops
- Accessibility: Must transfer from Wheelchair/ECV, Handheld Captioning, Audio Description
- Warning for those with high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, back or neck problems, etc. Expectant mothers should not go on.
This is it. This is the best ride in all of Disney World. It is hard even to explain how astounding this ride is. Between the immersive queue, technology, multiple pre-shows, ride magic, and one hell of a storyline that will completely blow you away. I can’t ride it enough. I honestly don’t want to give too much away!. Just ride it.
Disney Pro Tip: If you can, book an individual lighting lane. The line for this ride is insane even at rope drop. You can book an individual lighting lane at 7 am if you are a Disney resort guest and when the park opens if you are staying off-property.
Toy Story Mania!
- Height Requirement: All ages, heights
- Type of Ride: Spinning
- Accessibility: ECV must transfer to Wheelchair, Audio Description, Video Captioning, Service Animals are allowed with caution
- Warnings: Not the best ride if you are prone to motion sickness
Excellent competitive 3D game/ride where each screen is a different challenge featuring your favorite Toy Story friends. There is some spinning as you progress through the game. It is a great deal of fun and great for all ages. Highly recommend! The queue is nostalgia-filled with all of our favorite games from childhood.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Height Requirement: 40″
- Type of Ride: Big drop, thrill ride
- Accessibility: ECV must transfer to Wheelchair, then to ride vehicle, Video captioning, Service Animals are not allowed
- Warning for those with high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, back or neck problems, etc. Expectant mothers should not go on.
The Tower of Terror is a magnet at the end of Sunset Blvd, just sucking you in. It is one of the few rides that I still get nervous to ride. The theming is excellent with cobwebs everywhere, the derelict building, the creepy Twilight Zone video, and the dark boiler room. Then, of course, you don’t know how many times you will drop. It is a fantastic ride. Highly recommend.
Disney Pro Tip: This is a great ride to rope drop or wait until the end of the day. Also, the queue isn’t awful as it is all in the shade.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- Height Requirement: 48″
- Type of Ride: Thrill Ride
- Accessibility: ECV must transfer to Wheelchair, then to ride vehicle, Service animals not allowed
- Warning for those with high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, back or neck problems, etc. Expectant mothers should not go on.
Another intense thrill ride in Hollywood Studios. And I mean thrill ride with high speeds, loops, and corkscrews. This ride is a blast with a decent preshow. It is over very quick, though.
Disney Pro Tip: This queue is unbearable in the heat. Either book Disney Genie +, rope drop, wait until the end of the day, or use the single rider line.
I’ll ride but won’t wait.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
- Height Requirement: 40″
- Type of Ride: Thrill ride, small drops
- Accessibility: ECV must transfer to Wheelchair, then to ride vehicle, Video Captioning, Handheld Captioning, Service Animals are not allowed
- Warning for those with high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, back or neck problems, etc. Expectant mothers should not go on.
This is a classic Hollywood Studios ride. It is a fun simulator with a nostalgic storyline. It’s just not my favorite and I won’t wait to ride.
Rarely go on
Alien Swirling Saucers
- Height Requirement: 32″
- Type of Ride: Spinning
- Accessibility: Must transfer from Wheelchair/ECV, Service Animals are not allowed
It is just a slow-spinning ride with the aliens from Toy Story. It would be ok for smaller children but other than that it is pretty boring.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Height Requirement: 38″
- Type of Ride: Thrill Ride, Dark
- Accessibility: Must transfer from Wheelchair/ECV, Audio Description, Handheld Captioning, Assistive Listening Service Animals are not allowed
- Warning for those with high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, back or neck problems, etc. Expectant mothers should not go on.
Ok, so this is actually a great ride. Being able to board the Millennium Falcon is a dream come true. But I did not pay heed to those warnings. I hurt my back while on this ride from all of the jostling. I had to go to physical therapy. Sadly, I won’t go on anymore because of it. Too freaked out to try again.
