Is it worth visiting Helen, GA?

In my opinion, No. It is not worth visiting Helen, GA. Helen is not the “cutest small town in Georgia” nor is it like “being in Europe; in the Alpine Mountains.” It is a cheesy, random, goofy tourist attraction. And to be honest, I fell for the Instagram/blogger hype of Helen, Georgia, hard. I can’t get over how highly bloggers rate this place. I would not go out of my way to visit Helen. Below you will find the things I did while in Helen and where to eat in Helen. This Helen visitor’s guide includes where I stayed, things to do in Helen, GA, and what I ate. Great Airbnb to stay near Helen

We didn’t stay in Helen, GA. (Relieved that we didn’t. )We stayed about 45 minutes away in Murphy, NC. It was a wonderful and affordable log cabin that was dog-friendly. It was honestly the cleanest Airbnb I have ever stayed in. It was in a woodsy setting and was so cozy. I highly recommend it. (No affiliation with Airbnb.)

Great Restaurant to eat in Helen, GA

Since it was just a quick day trip, we only ate in one place: Bodensee. The food was actually amazing with lots of German beer. It was one of my favorite meals that I ate on a five week road trip.

Things to do in Helen. Maybe just skip it.

As I have mentioned, I didn’t love Helen so I didn’t spend a great deal of time checking out all of the attractions. We also went in November on a cold day so didn’t check out any nature adventures. We mainly walked around the small town. We looked around a few shops and walked along the river. And really, didn’t love Helen so I didn’t force myself to spend the whole day there. It wasn’t what I was expecting and was just kinda of goofy. Again, I don’t recommend going out of your way to visit Helen. It doesn’t live up to the hype you will see on blogs and social media. One thing we did enjoy was the drive to and from Helen as it included mountain vistas and forests. Check out this map of scenic drives in the area.
